Dr. Deborah Zanella is originally from Larned, a small town in Western Kansas. Dr. Zanella attended Kansas State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in life science. She completed her post-graduate education at the University of Missouri in St. Louis in 2003. During her time in St. Louis, Dr. Zanella completed internships at inner-city clinics helping the underprivileged. She also had the opportunity to train with some of the best ophthalmic practitioners in the country at Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University.

After completing her education in primary care optometry and ocular disease, Dr. Zanella worked alongside Dr. Steven Wexler at TLC Laser Eye Center in St. Louis for three years. There, she gained extensive knowledge in refractive surgery and served as an adjunct professor for the UMSL School of Optometry, training optometry students in pre- and post-operative care of LASIK and PRK. She still enjoys helping patients through the decision-making process of refractive surgery and caring for them after surgery.

In 2006 Dr. Zanella and her husband moved to North Texas to be around his two sisters and their families. She loves living in Texas, mostly because the wonderful people of Texas remind her of her mid-western roots. Dr. Zanella is board certified by the National Board of Optometry in ocular disease management and is a certified Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. She is a current member of the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association and Tarrant County Optometric Society.

Dr. Zanella has been married to Dr. Peter Zanella for 16 years and they have two children, Madison and Ryan. She feels very blessed to be a wife and a mom. She loves taking care of her patients, but when not at work she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, attending church, working out, and traveling.
